With 12 years of teaching experience, I have taught singers that perform with local and major international opera and theatre companies. Also an internationally recognized soloist, I have won several major voice competitions and sung with several opera companies and orchestras around the world. I have also been in demand for Master Classes with young professional singers and actors, presented by opera companies, schools, and other musical and theater organizations.

My teaching style is fun and no-nonsense. I use easily graspable techniques that dramatically increase your vocal capacity (size/volume, palette, range), repertoire, ease of performance, and confidence. I'm open to working with singers of ALL LEVELS, from earliest beginner to established professional, and have experience rehabilitating singers suffering from vocal trauma. I can also accompany you on recital programs, or help you prepare for a specific upcoming role or audition.

Rates: $75 - hour, or $40 - 30 minutes.

“Any opera singer will tell you how difficult it is to find a good voice teacher. Many of them are just out there to take the singer's money in exchange for teaching bad habits that could potentially scar the singer's voice. Often times, such teachers will feign legitimacy with the aide of a successful performing career; yet the blunt truth is that it takes much more than the possession of a beautiful voice to teach someone to sing opera. Even trickier is to find a good teacher of voice that can help the singer learn the art of baroque ornamentation, for example, and then teach her how to properly pronounce her French. With all this in mind, I feel blessed to have found Zachary Gordin. Out of all the voice teachers I have had, he is by far the best. His teachings help empower the voice rather than make it dependent on its teacher. The power and agility of my voice has definitely improved because of him. His understanding of the mechanisms of the human voice is vast, which makes him an excellent technician as well; he can clearly explain how one must breathe, support the voice, and resonate without using vague enigmatic suggestions that perplex the singer more than actually help her. He knows how to push his students so that they can efficiently reach their singing goals without hurting their voices. And while his lessons can be very challenging, they are still enjoyable and exciting because of the energetic support and faith he has in his students' potential for success. His musicianship skills are also top notch, and I have seen vast improvements in my musicality because of his teachings. Zachary Gordin is one of those few opera singers who can both perform and teach exceptionally well, and I am grateful to have been his student.”
